Clarinet Duo ~ Saturday 10:30 am


Rachel Grasso is a free-lance clarinetist in the Hudson Valley. Originally from the Houston Texas area, she moved to the Hudson Valley Region after becoming a part of the West Point Military Academy Concert Band; she served more than 20 years and has since retired. Rachel earned a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Houston and a Masters in Performance from Indiana University. Her principal teachers have included Chester Rowell, Jeffrey Lerner and Kalmen Opperman. Presently, she serves at SUNY New Paltz as an adjunct clarinet professor and maintains a private home studio. Rachel has been involved with Hudson Valley Philharmonic and Pone Ensemble performances. As well, she performs with numerous local County chorale orchestras and is a member of the Classy Duo, Bella Trio and Vino Trio. Rachel enjoys playing monthly at many local nursing homes and senior living residences in the area, spending time with her family, friends and 5 pets.


Brittney Donovan is a music education major at SUNY Ulster, she resides in High Falls. She has been playing clarinet for 9 years and got her start in the Rondout Valley School District music program. She currently studies with Rachel Grasso and Cheri O’Hare and is a clarinetist for SUNY Ulster’s Wind Ensemble and a bass clarinetist for SUNY Ulster’s Community band, both the direction of Victor Izzo. She also is involved with the College Youth Symphonic Orchestra of SUNY New Paltz where she is the principal clarinetist. Brittney spends her free time reading, listening to and creating music with her friends.
